There's a scene where he says that he doesn't want to be glorified and also don't want to be an example.īut his actions were justified that he had bad friends, he wanted to save his family. Makers doesn't shy away from him being a drug abuser, womanizer, self centered, criminal and also that his career was built on being from a film family. Now the big question, Does it glorify him? My answer would be 50-50. The film loses it's flow cause there's a lot of flashbacks (having a scene having a flashback inside a flashback) and it breaks the narrative. The film has a theatrical feel which I disliked since it felt a staged play while camera was rolling. Anushka was bogged down with a distracting accent while Boman and Jim Sarbh with bad and cartoonish writing. It felt good to see Paresh Rawal getting some good role after a long time ( last was Oh My God and recently he's been fooling around in Guest in London and Ek that tiger.) Vicky Kaushal is taking a giant leap this year. Ranbir is amazing especially in the scenes of substance abuse and with his father. It's really sad to see Abhijat and Hirani not able to juggle the emotional and humorous parts like they did in their previous films. While on the opposite the emotional scenes are beautifully written especially any scenes involving Sunil and Sanjay Dutt beautifully played by Paresh Rawal and Ranbir respectively.

The opening 20-25 minutes are just a drag to sit through. Scenes made for comic relief are long stretched, slapstick and cringy.

As Raju said in many interviews that he chose this story cause of the Humour but this is film's biggest weakness.
